53rd Mosquito Catamaran Nationals 2025-26

The 53rd National Titles started with an exciting day of 3 races in a solid breeze and large waves – lots of fun. The second day had promise but never really got going properly. Even so we managed to get in 3 slow races, which was fortunate as, after the lay-day, we sweltered in the clubhouse while the wind stayed away for day 3 of racing.
An attempt was made to start a bit earlier on the final day but the wind died before we could get started so we paddled back to shore for some lunch and then headed back out for two light, but interesting races.
Shannon and Jack Wilson started with a wobble but in the end finished up dominating the MkII series. The MkI series was not decided until the final race. After three different winners in the first 3 races, Matt Stone dominated the second day of racing, winning all three races, and on the final day he had to be content with two 4th places, but that was enough to win him the MkI title.
Congratulations to all those who made the journey to take part and enjoy a mixed week of sailing and some pleasant socialising in some unpleasant heat! You had to be there to experience the extraordinary race briefing – definitely a highlight.
