Lake Wellington Yacht Club – Tune-up Weekend

June long weekend – 11th – 13th

A small gathering of Mosquitoes and Nacras had a very enjoyable 3 days at Lake Wellington YC. The camp fire-pit and bunk house did get more use than the actual lake but nevertheless a good time was had by all. Saturday was rigging day as the wind was way too strong for anyone except Jake on his Nacra to think of going sailing. Well done Jake. A bloody good effort which included demonstrating how shallow (and muddy) Lake Wellington is. Sunday’s forecast was more promising with the wind supposed to ease, but in the event it pretty much kept pumping all day. Jake got out there again, and Aaron on his Nacra and Gary on his Mosquito joined him, while others watched from the shore or the rescue boat. Monday was much kinder to us all and everyone else finally got out there for a sail in absolutely perfect conditions (if a little chilly).

Well done to Zoe and Shane for making the longest journey from Canberra for the weekend. Many thanks to Jake, Gary and Pete for organising the venue, accommodation, fire-pit and rescue boat. At this time of the year anything can happen weather-wise, but even with the unfavourable winds this was still a very enjoyable weekend and well worth running again in future.
